Carbide Shield Teeth — TBM Cutter Head Supplier

Ruixin shield cutterhead teeth are tungsten carbide cutting tools for shield tunneling machine (TBM) cutterheads operating in medium to hard rock formations. Mounted on the cutterhead face, they maintain cutting efficiency through consistent hardness, controlled grain size, and tight dimensional tolerances across production batches.

Quick Grade Selection by Formation

Formation Grade Key Property
Medium-hard rock (EPB / slurry shield) SS16CB Balanced hardness HRA 87.5 + toughness TRS ≥2200 MPa
Hard mixed-face formations SS18CB Improved impact resistance, grain 4.0–6.0μm
Hard rock — maximum wear resistance SS20CB Highest wear resistance in CB series
Complex / variable geological structure SS18CC / SS20CC Maximum toughness, coarse grain 7.0–8.0μm

Frequently Asked Questions

How are shield cutterhead teeth different from standard TBM disc cutters?

Engineering shield teeth are carbide-tipped picks mounted on the cutterhead face of EPB or slurry shield TBMs for cutting soft to medium rock and mixed-face formations. Disc cutters are used in hard rock TBMs and operate by crushing rather than cutting. Shield teeth are brazed carbide inserts and can be replaced individually, making them more suitable for mixed geological conditions where formation hardness varies.

What UCS range do your carbide shield teeth cover?

Our grade range covers formations from soft soil (UCS <30 MPa) up to hard rock (UCS 120–160 MPa). For formations above 120 MPa, we recommend SS20CB or SS15CT. Send us your geotechnical report or UCS values and we will specify the appropriate grade for your project formation profile.

Can you supply shield teeth for an ongoing tunneling project with phased deliveries?

Yes. We support project-based supply schedules with phased deliveries aligned to your TBM advance rate and tool change intervals. Contact us with your project timeline and monthly consumption estimate to set up a supply agreement.
